I’ve been working at MacLean since 1986. What started out as a four-month contract has turned into a 30-year career. This work environment has given me the opportunity to hone my skills in a number of areas - I started out as a Steel Fitter and then picked up a second trade as a welder on-the-job. Another positive is that the company adapts to slack times in the economy. When times are slower they moved me around so I kept working but in different areas on the shop floor, in my case it was on the radial drill and the drill and burn table.
Now that I’m a long-time employee, I enjoy mentoring the younger tradespeople because that’s what was offered up to me when I was in their shoes.
