A “LUCKY” DAY FOR DYNAMIC EARTH! – March 18th

SUDBURY, ON – MacLean Engineering, a Sudbury-based global provider of underground mining equipment has offered up a “pot of gold” for Dynamic Earth this St. Patrick’s Day!
Today, the company announced a $100,000 donation in support of the continuing development at Science North’s mining and geology centre. This substantial contribution represents a significant contribution in MacLean Engineering’s history.
As a tribute to MacLean Engineering and their generous support, a new 2,000 square foot (186 square metre) special exhibits gallery at Dynamic Earth has been officially named the MacLean Engineering Gallery. The gallery will house a new special exhibition at Dynamic Earth each season. The MacLean Engineering Gallery is currently under construction and will open in March 2009 with a special Diamonds exhibit. Diamonds, a new travelling exhibition currently under development by Science North, will offer an immersive and engaging experience that takes visitors on a journey from “rocks to riches”.
“This major financial commitment from MacLean Engineering is a testament to the success and importance of Dynamic Earth, “said Jim Marchbank, Science North CEO. “We are pleased to receive such strong support from Don MacLean and his team, and we are honoured to pay homage to the legacy of a mining supply company which has been in business, under the same owner, for over 30 years.”
The “pot of gold” for Sudbury’s mining and geology centre includes another generous gift presented today by MacLean Engineering. MacLean Engineering has donated a mini-mechanized bolter, known specifically in the industry as “The MacLean”. This piece of equipment was custom-designed for Don MacLean by one of his employees at the factory and is valued at approximately $20,000 dollars. It will be proudly displayed at the front of the MacLean Engineering Gallery.
“We are excited at MacLean Engineering to be part of this initiative with Dynamic Earth, Science North and the Sudbury community. The MacLean Engineering Gallery is a great opportunity for children, parents and community members to experience first hand the latest and greatest technology in the industry,” said Don MacLean. “We are proud to be part of the experience with Dynamic Earth and are truly committed to be an industry leader when it comes to Mechanized bolting, Secondary Blasting and Utility Vehicles.”
MacLean Engineering Hosts Open House – June 7th
June 7, 2007: Sudbury-ians driving during the late afternoon rush hour on Kelly Lake Road may well have wondered if traffic was being diverted due to yet another construction project. Not so! The cars turning into 1067 Kelly Lake Road were not detouring – they knew their destination well. MacLean Engineering, a leading manufacturing of underground mining equipment and service provider to the industry was hosting an Open House and BBQ.

Two pieces of equipment were showcased - a Scissor Bolter and Boom Truck. Over 150 people came and went during the afternoon and early evening and in addition to viewing the equipment, enjoyed fantastic BBQ fare, tours of the facility and met with both management and staff. There was a great turnout of our employees as well, who all should be commended for taking the time to show our customers their pride of workmanship and employment with MacLean Engineering. Winners of the employee draw were: Sean Van Amburg, Darren Vaudry & Joanne Atkins. Winners from the customer draw were: Ron Caverly (CVRD INCO-Stobie), Mark Frayne (FNX Mining) & Pat Lachappelle (CVRD INCO-Creighton).
