Mott College Takes Two!

Flint, Michigan – Mott Community College of Flint, Michigan recently acquired two Kanlan RTV Folding V Blades for their Office of the Physical Plant. The new blades will be mounted on their recently purchased RTV 1100’s. Mott plans to use the new Kanlan blades to clear snow and maintain their numerous sidewalks, pathways, roads, and parking lots on their large urban campus. According to Joe Curtis of Flint New Holland who sold the blades; "the new Kanlan blades will definitely be an asset for the college. The ability to match a professional grade blade to the Kubota RTV 1100 brings the best of all worlds. If this blade works as well as we think, it should be a great seller for us and Kanlan". 

Soon after the purchase of the blades, the College tested Kanlan’s RTV sweeper and broadcast sander. During the test, the operators used the RTV’s sweeper to clear snow and debris from Mott’s parking garages. According to John Valle – Kanlan Account Manager, "The Kanlan sweeper is unique to the RTV since the RTV is currently the only utility vehicle on the market with the hydraulic capacity to handle a sweeper". Since the parking garages can only fit vehicles less than 6’6", the RTV and Sweeper proved very useful navigating and cleaning areas where larger tractors could not fit. 

Before using Kanlan’s sander, Mott Community College had difficulties finding a sander which could evenly spread granular ice-melter material. During the test, Ken Gatenby – Grounds Maintenance Supervisor – noted that he was very impressed with its overall abilities to control the flow and distribution of the costly material. He remarked that with the addition of the RTV sweeper, sander, and plow his fleet of RTV’s could become true four season productivity machines versus people movers. 

Kanlan, which is new to the United States, has been producing rugged and dependable snow removal and spring cleanup attachments since 1984 for the Canadian municipal market. Within the Michigan area, Kanlan has attracted customers from hospitals, sidewalk maintenance contractors, residential maintenance providers, and educational institutions.
